Optional Reincarnation

On the historical surface, reincarnation exists in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, certain Kabbalistic traditions, Druze faith, multiple West African cosmologies, ancient Greek philosophy, Cathar Christianity. It’s statistically the majority human belief across history. More humans have believed in reincarnation than haven’t. If you believe in it, it’s a cycle of; you die, you return, you learn, you grow, you eventually escape. The wheel. Samsara. The assumption cooked into every version: you have to come back. It’s compulsory. Karma determines the terms, but the return itself is mandatory. You don’t get a vote. But - and here’s the crack in the surface - every single tradition that teaches reincarnation also teaches escape from it. Moksha. Nirvana. Liberation. The entire spiritual project in every reincarnation framework is getting out. The goal isn’t to reincarnate well. The goal is to stop.
