Certain oils have been revered for their role in activating parts of the body and mind that modern science still doesn’t fully understand. Ancient civilizations from Egypt to Mesopotamia to the Vedic cultures of India knew oils were tools of initiation, and had powers beyond just therapeutic scent. Oils like frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, spikenard, and cedarwood, each have a frequency that corresponded to different parts of the brain, nervous system, organs, and blood. In temples and mystery schools, oils were applied to the crown, the spine, and the heart as part of sacred rites because oils were considered carriers of information. The right oil, applied in the right place, could open gateways in the body.
